About Me

My photo
Dr. Haley
I was born in a small town in West Virginia. I completed my undergraduate work at Glenville State College and Marshall University in Huntington, WV. I received a master's degree in sociology with a concentration in social inequality and a Ph.D. from Florida Atlantic University in Comparative Studies with a concentration in social anthropology and gender studies. My dissertation focused on South Florida Filipinas who had met their American husbands on the Internet or through pen pal organizations. I wanted to explore how their decisions and behaviors were influenced by society (structure) and individual choice (agency). I am currently in my tenth year teaching IB Social and Cultural Anthropology at Deerfield Beach High School in Deerfield Beach, FL where I also serve as ESOL Coordinator.
